God Speaks, and We Must Be Ready and Open to Listen to His Wisdom

(Read the previous devotion here.)

Mark 9:2–8

Chapter 9 of the gospel of Mark tells of the supernatural experience of Peter, James, and John. They were praying with Jesus in the mountains, and verse 7 describes this remarkable event as follows:

“Then a cloud overshadowed them, and from the cloud there came a voice, ‘This is my Son, the Beloved;  listen to him!’”

Moreover, verse 8 describes the disciples’ reaction to the extraordinary event:

“Suddenly when they looked around, they saw no one with them anymore, but only Jesus.”

This is a powerful event that shows God’s calling and purpose for Jesus’ birth and death on Earth as our Savior. But it also shows us that we must be quiet and ready to listen to God’s commands and directions. He knows when we are ready. We just need to keep our hearts devoted and keep seeking His presence in all that we do!

Let us be grateful for Jesus’ sacrifice for us, and let us rejoice in his grace. May we be vessels of God’s love until he returns.

Prayer:

We pray that we may always have faith in our Lord, for He has loved us and has forgiven our sins, and through His grace and grace alone, we are blessed by the Holy Spirit. God speaks to us until this day.
