Are We Still Sinners?

(Read the previous devotion here.)

1 John 1:3–10

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” – John 1:8

The first letter of John was apparently addressed to a church where “false prophets” denied the incarnation of Christ, causing a secession. In this passage, John is reminding us about our sins and the assurance that we need Jesus to wash them away.

I believe that people have not changed much since then, and this letter seems very timely. Lent is a perfect time to reflect on our attitudes. Let’s be humble and recognize that only Jesus can lead us to heaven, so that in this journey we become better people by loving each other.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we love and need you. Please help us to repent and turn ourselves to you. Help us to imitate you, sharing your light and love with others.
